Sweetest Cherries and Artistic Mix Decorative Masks

Happy Fourth of July!!  I hope today's national holiday is whatever you need it to be.  John and I are in our new home this year.  We have some really busy boat racing weeks coming up, so we will most likely just putter around home today, then enjoy the fireworks from afar this evening.

Personally, I have been enjoying cherry season this year.  They are big, sweet and juicy!  So when it came to designing a Red, White & Blue card for today, cherries came right to my mind!   I really wanted a bold background for the cherries, so I decided to create one using the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks and Blending brushes.   I love how this turned out and can't wait to send this card out to a friend!

Cutting Instructions:

  • Card Base - Basic White: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  This is a top fold card
  • Front Matte Layer 1 - Poppy Parade: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Front Matte Layer 2 - Blueberry Bushel: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Card Front Layer - Basic White: 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"
  • Scrap - Basic White: Stamp & punch 3 cherries, 3 stems, 4 leaves.
  • Scrap - Basic White: Stamp and fussy sentiment
  • Inner Matte Layer - Blueberry Bushel: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Inner Message Liner - Basic White: 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"

Assembly Instructions:

  • Burnish scoreline with bone folder.  This is a top fold card.
  • When I am using blending brushes, I like to protect my workspace by working on gridpaper.
  • To keep my cardstock from moving around while I am applying ink with a mask overlay, I apply a loop of post-it tape to the back of my cardstock to keep it from sliding around.  Then I apply a few spots of post-it tape to the edges of my mask to keep it from slipping as well.
  • Using large grid from Artistic Mix Decorative Masks, apply Balmy Blue ink to card front using blending brush.
  • Using small grid from Artistic Mix Decorative Masks, align grids as desired then apply Blueberry Bushel ink using blending brush.
  • Adhere card front to matte layer 2.  Adhere to matte layer 1.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Using Poppy Parade ink, stamp and punch 3 cherries.
  • Using Pecan Pie ink, stamp and punch 3 stems.
  • Using Garden Green ink, stamp and punch 4 leaves. Using mini glue dots, adhere leaves together in clusters of 2.
  • Assemble cherries.  1 cluster of 2, and 1 single.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Using Poppy Parade, stamp sentiment.  Fussy cut.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Tie bow using Linen Thread. Adhere to cherry cluster using mini glue dot.
  • Scatter Iridescent pearls on card front.
  • Stamp cherry on inner message liner.  Adhere to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.
I hope you are inspired to make this sweet card!!
