Today I am participating in Kylie Bertucci's Monthly International Blog Highlights. The theme is Thank You. It is a really cool event that she hold every month. Viewers are encouraged to visit her blog post and vote for their top 5 favorite submissions. At the end of the voting period, the top 10 will be invited to a blog hop with Kylie at the end of the month. I really enjoy participating in these events and would really appreciate your vote..... pretty please :)
When the Perched In The Tree stamps and dies were released last year, I never got around to practicing how to color the bird. So a couple of days ago, I tried several different techniques and landed on the Stampin' Blends. I mixed the Daffodil Delight and Wild Wheat to get the layers of color tone in this pretty bird.
The other element that I never played with last year, was the foliage die. So for this card, I started with Lemon Lime Twist cardstock, then applied an irregular ink application of Granny Apple Green using a sponge dauber. I'm pretty happy with the end result. If you look close, you'll see that I applied a couple of the die cuts behind the trees, then the majority on the front.
I really enjoyed creating this card and hope that you are inspired to make it too!
Cutting Instructions:
- Card base - Basic White: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". this is a side fold card.

- Wrap ribbon horizontally around card front and matte layer, about 1 1/4" up from bottom edge. Secure on back using tape.
- Adhere matted card front to front of card base.
- Stamp bird using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Color and shade in using Daffodil Delight and Wild Wheat Stampin' Blends combo packs. Die cut bird. Adhere using dimensionals.

- Inner message liner liner, I stamped off the Lemon Lime Twist, then applied Granny Apple Green with a sponge dauber to the stamp prior to stamping the foliage corners. Adhere message liner to inner matte layer. Adhere to inner card base.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful layering of dies! Great job with color choices ...the leaves almost shimmer with the Granny Apple over the Lemon Lime Twist. And the bird's coloring pops over the tree.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words :). I'm glad that you enjoyed this card. Thank you for visiting my blog.
