Painted Poppies Birthday card

Painted Poppies - Birthday Card

For my online live demonstration this week, I created this birthday card.  My husband and I just returned from a road trip where we saw loads and loads of Poppy flowers along the road.  I love them, and was happy to make another card using them.

If you caught my live demonstration online, then you might already know that I ended up having technical difficulties.  So I re-recorded the demonstration.  All should be good now :)

The product links are at the end of this post.

Cutting instructions:
  • Cardbase: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Card front: 4" x 5 1/4", embossed with Timeworn Type 3D embossing folder
  • Scrap Basic White to stamp and fussy cut flowers
  • Scrap Basic White to stamp and die cut sentiment using Layering Circle Dies

The Stampin' UP!® Splendid Thoughts bundle is in the July- December 2022 Mini catalog.  I enjoy this set so much, that I have already made 6 cards!!  It has an overall fine-line aesthetic that is very appealing to me.  This fun fold is quite simple to make.  I hope you will try it!  The product links are listed at the end of this post.

Follow along with the YouTube tutorial and you can't go wrong!

YouTube Tutorial

Cutting and assembly instructions:
  • Colored cardstock: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • DSP: 5 1/4" x 12", scored at 2", 5", 8".  Hint, run the score tool over the foil DSP only one time so as to not tear the foil layer.  Then burnish with the flat side of your bone folder so as to not scrap the foil layer.  Adhere to cardback using Stampin' Seal.
  • Basic White cardstock: die cut a rectangle from the Scalloped Contours dies.  Final measurement is approximately 3 1/4" x 4 1/2".  This will be your card front.  Adhere with Stampin' Seal.  Be sure to only adhere the back of the left side to the folded DSP.  Watch the YouTube tutorial for best practices.
  • Basic White cardstock: die cut a rectangle from the Stitched Rectangle dies:  Final measurement is approximately 2 1/2" x 4".  Adhere to inner card with Stampin' Seal.  Watch the YouTube tutorial for ease of aligning behind the card front focal point.
  • Basic White cardstock strip: 5/8" x 2". Stamp sentiment on this.  Adhere to card front with dimensionals.
  • Vellum cardstock: Apply ink with blending brush, then die cut leaf piece.  Adhere with Mini Glue Dots.
