Garden Silhouette Hot Foil Die + Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies

This week’s monochromatic Insta Hop color is Calypso Coral. I am excited to share my first attempt at using hot foil onvellum, then coloring on the back. I need to improve my technique, but in general I’m quite happy with my first try.

I am enjoying the hot foiling on my cards so much.  It has really opened up my creative options!

After I used hot foil on the front of the vellum, I colored with Stampin' Blends on the back of the vellum. Then I cut a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the same size as my vellum, and applied it directly to the back. I then adhered the vellum to the Willow White cardstock for a clear view of the coloring.

After the hot foiling I had trimmed the original vellum down, leaving me a 3/8" x 5" strip of the vellum. So I colored it and used it on the left side of the inner message liner.

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base - Calypso Coral: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".
  • Front matte layer - Calypso Coral: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Card front under layer - White Willow: 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
  • Card front layer - Vellum: 4" x 4 7/8", this will be trimmed after the hot foiling process.
  • Sentiment - White Willow: 3 1/2" x 4 1/2", this will cut the entire list of sentiments at one time.  The inner sentiment is included in this.
  • Inner message liner - Calypso Coral: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5"
Assembly Instructions:
  • Using the Garden Silhouette Hot Foil Die, heat die using the Stampin' Up!® Hot Foil System.  Layer foil on face down, add vellum, shim and plate.  Transfer to Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine and slowly crank through.  Peel foil off of vellum. Trim vellum down to 3 5/8" x 4 7/8". Keep 3/8" strip for inside of card.
  • Using Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends color the flowers on the vellum from the back side. Mine turned out a bit splotchy, but I had to stop in the middle of coloring so there a solid line dried and didn't blend out on the vellum.
  • Adhere Adhesive Sheet to the back of the vellum and adhere to the White Willow card front under layer. Adhere to front matte layer. Adhere to front of card base using dimensionals.
  • Using the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Die, heat die using the Stampin' Up!® Hot Foil System.  Layer foil on face down, add White Willow card stock, shim and plate.  Transfer to Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine and slowly crank through.  Peel foil off of cardstock. Align cutting dies on the foil sentiments and die cut. Adhere chosen sentiment to card front using dimensionals.
  • Scatter pearls on card front.
  • Using Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends, color the flowers on the back of the vellum strip that was cut from the front card front. Adhere to the left side of the inner message liner. Adhere sentiment to message liner. Adhere to inner matte layer. Adhere to inner card base.
I hope you are wanting to try the Hot Foil System! It has so many possibilities and I look forward to exploring all of them :)
