Fern & Flora with Blending Brushes

Fern & Flora Dies + Everyday Arches Dies + Lovely Arrangements Bundle

Today I am participating in the Crafty Collaborations Technique Tuesday Blog Hop!  This month the technique to focus on is "blending brushes".  I couldn't wait any longer and broke into my pre-order for the new catalog that starts next month.  Since I am using some products that are not available yet, I am not able to provide links..... but I will supply all the item #'s at the end of my post.

April Theme Blending Brushes

To say I love blending brushes would be an understatement.  I use them on at least half of all my projects.  I have more than are shown in the picture ....but I want to share this board! It is one of my favorite craft room organization hacks..... I use cord clips (with an adhesive back) to hold my brushes.. The skinny part of the handle easily slips in and out of the slot.

Back to my project.....To create the arch, I die cut Stampin' Masking Paper and applied it on my card front.  I then applied my ink using a blending brush and Peaceful Pine ink.  I gently removed my mask, then adhered die cut ferns and the sentiment.  So easy!  For the fern fronds, I applied Peaceful Pine ink to Peaceful Pine cardstock prior to die cutting.

Fern & Flora Dies

Cutting Instructions:

  • Card base - Basic White Thick: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
  • Front matte layer - Peaceful Pine: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Card front layer - Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Fern fronds - Peaceful Pine: 4" x 5", die cut 2 large fronds and 1 unfurled frond.
  • Sentiment label - Basic White: scrap to stamp and die cut label
  • Inner matte layer - Peaceful Pine: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Masking paper: 3 3/4" x 5"

Assembly Instructions:

  • Using fourth largest arch die, cut out from masking paper.  Gently peel backer off of masking paper.  I reduce the tack on the back by applying it to my clothes before applying it to my cardstock.  Apply to the card front layer.
  • Using Peaceful Pine ink and blending brush, apply ink within the arched area.  I left my center lighter than the outer area.  Gently remove the masking paper from the card front layer.  Adhere to front masking layer.  Adhere to front of card base using dimensionals.
  • Using Peaceful Pine ink and a blending brush, apply ink to Peaceful Pine cardstock prior to die cutting the 2 large fern fronds and the 1 unfurled frond.  Die cut.  Adhere the two large fronds to card front.  Save the unfurled frond for the inner card.
  • Using Peaceful Pine ink, stamp and die cut sentiment.
  • Using Peaceful Pine ink and blending brush, apply ink to lower left corner of the inner message liner.  Adhere unfurled frond.  Adhere liner to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.
