Today I am participating in the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop.  In this blog hop I had the opportunity to either draw inspiration from the colors, the picture, or both.  I chose to draw my inspiration from the colors.  I used all the colors except Starry Sky.  Since Starry Sky is retiring in just a week, I chose to substitute in Night of Navy in its place.

Flowers of Beauty

Flowers of Beauty

Flowers of Beauty

Inner view

I created todays card for the Crafty Collaborations "Magic of Masks" Blog Hop.  The theme is masking techniques and I chose to show masking that creates an illusion of depth.

To do this I stamped the corner flower on the cardstock, then also stamped the same flower on Stampin' Up! Masking paper.  I fussy cut the flower out of the masking paper then peeled the backer off, leaving the removable sticker - aka custom mask.  I positioned that mask over the original stamped flower, then stamped the other  flowers.   I then used the same mask over any of the flowers when stamping the leaves.
Super easy and loads of fun to do!!

To create this card I couldn't wait to use some of the new colors and products from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog (Goes live May 1)
Flowers of Beauty stamp set Unbounded Love bundle.
Colors are Shy Shamrock, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop

Cutting instructions:
  • Card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  This is a side fold card.
  • Front matte layer: 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
  • Card front layer: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Inner matte layer: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Sentiment: scrap
  • Ribbon 16"
Assembly instructions:
  • Stamp first flower using Tuxedo Black ink.   Mask using fussy cut flower from masking paper.  Stamp 2 more flowers.  Reposition mask over each flower as necessary to stamp leaves.
  • Use the same mask to cover the flower when using the fill stamp to add color to each stamped image: Peach Pie to the corner flower, Petunia Pop to the two remaining flowers,  Shy Shamrock for the leaves. then for the flower centers I reversed the flower colors (Petunia Pop in the center of Peach Pie, and Peach Pie in the center of Petunia Pop).
  • Emboss card front using Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder.  Adhere to front matte layer.
  • Wrap ribbon approximately 1" down from top of card from.  Adhere ends on back using tape.
  • Adhere matted card front to front of card base using dimensionals.
  • Using tuxedo black ink, stamp sentiment and die cut.  Position and adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Tie bow and adhere using mini glue dot.
  • Scatter gems on card front.
  • Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp sentiment and images on inner message liner.   I used Peach Pie as my fill color on my flowers.  Adhere to inner card base.
Now, let's take some time to visit the blogs of the other participants to see how they used the masking technique!

Textured Floral - Grateful Heart

Textured Floral

Today I am a Guest Designer in the Colour and Inkspiration challenge #CI163 !  This was really exciting for me!  I've mentioned before how inspired I am by the artists that contribute to this group, then 2 weeks ago I was named the winner of #CI161 !

The instructions for the winning card can be found at this link on my blog.

The colors for challenge #163

These vibrant colors were a treat to work with!  The hardest part was picking a stamp set and card layout.  My friend Carol sent me a beautiful Easter card using this Fancy Fold, so I decided to give it a whirl with the Textured Floral stamps and dies.  I am very happy with how it turned out!

This card is WAY easier than it looks! And it fits in a standard envelope!!
I really hope you will give this a try!

Cutting instructions:
  • Card base - Basic White Thick: 5 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 2 3/4".  This is a top fold card
  • Circle frame -  Basic White Thick: largest and 3rd largest Stylish Shapes Circle dies from a pc of    3 1/2" x 3 1/2"
  • Large flower - Basic White: stamp and die cut from 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" - cut 1
  • Mid sized flower - Basic White: stamp and die cut from 1 1/2" x 3" - cut 2
  • Small sized flower - Basic White: stamp and die cut from 1 1/2" x 2" - cut 2
  • Broad leaf stems - Crushed Curry: Detail die cut from 4" x 4" - cut 2
  • Small leaf stems - Coastal Cabana: detail die cut from 4" x 4" - cut 2
  • Sentiment -Basic White: 3/8" strip cut
  • Linen thread: 16"
Asssembly instructions:
  • Using bone folder, burnish scoreline well for a good crease.
  • Open card base up flat.  With face of card up, position 3 largest Stylish Shapes Circle die in center, straddling the scored line.  Anchor with post-it note if desired.  Run through cut and emboss machine.  Remove cut circle.
  • Using the Fern 3D embossing folder, line up the front of the card base only in the folder.  The score line will line up with the outer edge of the embossing folder.  Run through cut and emboss machine.
  • Cut circle frame by positioning 3rd largest circle die inside of the largest circle die.  Die cut.  Adhere circle frame to front of card base only.  Because the card base circle and the inner frame circle are the same size, these should line up perfectly.
  • Using Poppy Parade ink, stamp largest flower.  Using Starry Sky ink, stamp inner flower.  Die cut.
  • Using Gorgeous Grape ink, stamp 2 middle sized flowers.  Die cut.
  • Using Starry Sky ink, stamp 2 small sized flower.  Die cut
  • Detail die cut 2 broad leaf stems from Crushed Curry cardstock.
  • Detail die cut 2 small leaf stems from Coastal Cabana cardstock.
  • Arrange flowers then adhere.  I used glue to adhere the detail die cut stems and middle sized flowers and the top small flower in position.  I used 1 layer of dimensionals under the large flower and 2 layers of stacked dimensionals under the bottom small flower
  • Using Starry Sky ink, stamp sentiment.  I used my scissors to banner cut the end of the label.  I used mini glue dots to apply this label.
  • Tie a double bow using linen thread.  Adhere using mini glue dot.
  • Scatter Brushed Brass Butterflies
  • Using Starry Sky ink, stamp small flower on inner card base.
Enjoy crafting!!

Teah
