I created todays card for the Crafty Collaborations "Magic of Masks" Blog Hop.  The theme is masking techniques and I chose to show masking that creates an illusion of depth.

To do this I stamped the corner flower on the cardstock, then also stamped the same flower on Stampin' Up! Masking paper.  I fussy cut the flower out of the masking paper then peeled the backer off, leaving the removable sticker - aka custom mask.  I positioned that mask over the original stamped flower, then stamped the other  flowers.   I then used the same mask over any of the flowers when stamping the leaves.
Super easy and loads of fun to do!!

To create this card I couldn't wait to use some of the new colors and products from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog (Goes live May 1)
Flowers of Beauty stamp set Unbounded Love bundle.
Colors are Shy Shamrock, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop

Cutting instructions:
  • Card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  This is a side fold card.
  • Front matte layer: 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
  • Card front layer: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Inner matte layer: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Sentiment: scrap
  • Ribbon 16"
Assembly instructions:
  • Stamp first flower using Tuxedo Black ink.   Mask using fussy cut flower from masking paper.  Stamp 2 more flowers.  Reposition mask over each flower as necessary to stamp leaves.
  • Use the same mask to cover the flower when using the fill stamp to add color to each stamped image: Peach Pie to the corner flower, Petunia Pop to the two remaining flowers,  Shy Shamrock for the leaves. then for the flower centers I reversed the flower colors (Petunia Pop in the center of Peach Pie, and Peach Pie in the center of Petunia Pop).
  • Emboss card front using Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder.  Adhere to front matte layer.
  • Wrap ribbon approximately 1" down from top of card from.  Adhere ends on back using tape.
  • Adhere matted card front to front of card base using dimensionals.
  • Using tuxedo black ink, stamp sentiment and die cut.  Position and adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Tie bow and adhere using mini glue dot.
  • Scatter gems on card front.
  • Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp sentiment and images on inner message liner.   I used Peach Pie as my fill color on my flowers.  Adhere to inner card base.
Now, let's take some time to visit the blogs of the other participants to see how they used the masking technique!

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Hugs,
Teah
