I played with the floating strips technique to make this card for my granddaughters 8th grade graduation.

Its super easy to make and can be made with any DSP, or cardstock.  The secret is to glue the strips down on a piece of window sheet and space them apart to create the floating effect.  Stick a focal point on top and you've got a great card!

Cutting instructions:
  • Basic White cardbase: 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2". This is a side fold card.
  • Window Sheet: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • DSP: small floating strips 5 1/4" x 1/4"
  • DSP: large floating strips 5 1/4" x 3/8"
  • Misty Moonlight: scrap to die cut Celebrate background
  • Lemon Lime Twist: Scrap for detail die cut of Celebrate - apply adhesive sheet to back first
  • Lemon Lime Twist: scrap to die cut starburst x 2 and 1 star cluster
  • Lemon Lolly: Scrap to die cut star cluster x 2
  • Basic White message liner: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • DSP: 5 1/4" x 3/8"
  • Vellum: 2nd largest circle die
Assembly instructions:
  • Adhere DSP strips to window sheet using multipurpose glue.  Alternate strips in size and leaving space in between the strips.
  • Once the adhesive has dried, add foam adhesive strips to the back of the window sheet hiding behind the DSP strips.
  • Center and adhere to the front of the card
  • Adhere detail die cut of Celebrate of to outline bubble cut.   Using dimensionals center at diagonal on vellum circle.  Add dimensionals on back of vellum hidden behind the word and apply to center of card.
  • Adhere star clusters using dimensionals.
  • Using Lemon Lolly Stampin' Blends, color 7 Basic Rhinestone jewels.   Apply to card front.
  • Adhere DSP strips to top and bottom of message liner.  Adhere star cluster in upper left corner.  Adhere message liner to inner cardbase.
