Layers of Beauty + Damask Embossing Folder

 


I enjoyed making this weeks Monochromatic card using the Layers of Beauty stamps, dies, and masks.  You can find the post on Instagram HERE .  Be sure to click through to see all of the projects submitted this week.  

To create the embossed background layer, I used the Damask Embossing Folder (#165214) that will be available through the 2025-2026 Annual Catalog starting May 6th.

Layers of Beauty

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base - Gray Granite: 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".  This is a top fold card.
  • Front matte layer - Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Card front layer - Gray Granite: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" (This layer is embossed)
  • Focal point floral image - Gray Granite: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (This will be stamped and die cut)
  • Large leaf cluster - Gray Granite: scrap, die cut 2
  • small leaf cluster - Gray Granite: scrap, die cut 3
  • Sentiment label - Gray Granite: scrap, will be fussy cut
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Assembly Instructions:
  • Using bone folder, burnish score line.
  • Using Damask embossing folder, emboss card front layer.  Using Whisper White craft ink, apply small puddle on inside of Whisper White Craft Ink pad lid.  Using Water Painter, mix small amount of water with ink on water painter brush.  Using inside edge of lid, flick white spatters on embossed card front.  Adhere to front matte layer.  Adhere to front of card base.
  • Using Gray Granite ink, stamp floral focal point on Gray Granite cardstock.
  • Using Layers of Beauty mask #1 and blending brush, apply Whisper White ink to floral image.  Using mask #2 and blending brush, apply another layer of Whisper White ink to floral image.
  • Using mask #3 and blending brush, apply Gray Granite ink just to the small flower centers.
  • Using mask #4 and blending brush, apply Gray Granite ink for leaves.
  • Using mask #5 and blending brush, apply Gray Granite ink for leaves.
  • Using silhouette die, die cut floral image.
  • Using blending brush, apply Gray Granite ink to a scrap of Gray Granite cardstock.  Detail die cut 2 of the larger leaf clusters and 3 of the smaller leaf clusters.  Using mini glue dots, apply floral die cut.  Using dimensionals, apply floral focal point to card front.
  • Using blending brush, apply Gray Granite ink to a scrap of Gray Granite cardstock.   Using embossing buddy to remove static electrictity from cardstock.  Using Versamark ink, stamp sentiment.  Cover in White Embossing Powder.  Tap off excess powder.  Heat set using Heat Tool.  Fussy cut.  Adhere to front of focal point using dimensionals.
  • Scatter gems on card front.
  • Using Gray Granite ink, stamp images in corners of message liner.  Adhere to inner card base.
