Fern & Flora Ink & Inspiration Sketch Challenge

Fern & Flora Bundle + Textured Tree Ring Embossing Folder + Moonlit Flora DSP

Today I am participating in the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop.  This month we are  creating cards based off of a sketch.  It can be a lot of fun to create from a sketch, especially if you get stuck in rut with your creativity.

June 2026 - Sketch Challenge

Be sure to find the list of participants below my tutorial, to see everyone's interpretation of this sketch.

I've chosen to create my card using the Fern & Flora bundle.  The embossed card front is using the Textured Tree Ring Embossing Folder that will be available to customers starting July 1st.  I will add that item # closer to the product links so that you can find it easily.

Detail View

You can really see that embossed tree ring easier in the detail view.  To make the little flowers pop, I used the Golden Glow Shimmering Pen on the Golden Glow card stock.  It adds a subtle shimmer.  The sentiment is heat embossed.

  • Focal point layer - DSP: 2" x 3 1/4"
  • Horizontal strips - Mossy Meadow: 1/2" x 3 1/4", cut 3 pieces

  • Inner matte layer - Mossy Meadow: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Inner DSP strip: 3/8" x 5"
Assembly Instructions:
  • Adhere embossed card front layer to front matte layer.  Adhere to front of card base.
  • Adhere focal point matte layer to card front.
  • Adhere the horizontal strips starting at left edge of card front, over the focal point matte layer and extending back onto the card front.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink and a sponge dauber,  gently cover the DSP white core center that is visible on all sides.  I do this so that the DSP layer blends nicely with the matte layer.  If the white core doesn't bother you, then feel free to skip that step. Adhere focal point DSP on matte layer and over the horizontal strips.
  • Assemble the Golden Glow flowers.  Using the Golden Glow Shimmering Brush, color the flowers.  When dry, adhere the Basic White flower centers.  Adhere the flowers on the right side of the horizontal strips using mini glue dots.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp outline of sentiment label.  Using Versamark ink, stamp sentiment, coat in White embossing powder and heat set.  Die cut the label.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink and a sponge dauber,  gently cover the DSP white core center that is visible on all sides.Adhere DSP strip to inner message liner.  Adhere to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.
