This weeks Monochromatic Insta Hop color is Misty Moonlight. I've been planning this card for a week and to be honest, it surpassed my expectations. I'm so in love with this card!

A Child Is Born

I had this idea of gentle rays coming from the brightest star, so I heat embossed the holy family, then I applied mask over the top. I created the mask by stamping the holy family on the masking paper, then fussy cut it out. I applied the mask over the heat embossed image, then used a blending brush, ink and the edge of cardstock to create the subtle rays. It was a few extra steps but I think the end result is totally worth it!

Cutting Instructions:

Card base - Basic White: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Front matte layer #1 - Misty Moonlight: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Front matte layer #2 - Gold Foil: 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
Card front layer - Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
Sentiment matte layer - Gold Foil: 7/8" x 1 5/8"
Sentiment label - Misty Moonlight: 3/4" x 1 1/2"
Inner matte layer #1 - Misty Moonlight: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Inner matte layer #2 - Gold Foil: 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
Inner message liner - Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"

Assembly Instructions:

Using Versamark ink, stamp Holy Family image on card front layer. Cover in Gold embossing powder and heat set.
Using any color ink, stamp Holy Family image on masking paper. Fussy cut out image leaving as little halo as possible.
Apply mask layer over heat embossed image on card front layer. Using Misty Moonlight ink, blending brush, and edge of cardstock scrap, create the gentle rays from the North Star by shifting cardstock a few times. Fill in the outer edges of the card front as well.
Remove the mask from card front. Using Versamark ink, stamp stars.... coat in gold embossing powder. Heat set.
Using Stampin' Blends Light combo pack, color skin. Using Stampin' Blends Medium Light combo pack, color hair. Using Stampin' Blends Misty Moonlight combo pack, color clothing and swaddling cloth. Using Stampin' Blends Pecan Pie combo pack, color walking stick.
Adhere card front to Gold Foil matte layer. Adhere to Misty Moonlight matte layer. Adhere to front of card base using dimensionals.
Using Versamark ink, stamp sentiment on label. Coat in Gold embossing powder then heat set. Adhere to sentiment matte layer. Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
Adhere rhinestone to the North Star.
Using Versamark ink, stamp stars and lamb on inner message liner. Coat in Gold embossing powder and heat set. Using Misty Moonlight ink stamp inner sentiment. Adhere to Gold Foil matte layer. Adhere to Misty Moonlight matte layer. Adhere to inner card base.
