Splendid Autumn - Feel Better

Slendid Autumn DSP

I have wanted to use this specific piece of DSP, ever since I first laid eyes on it.  Yet somehow, I never got around to finding the right application until now.  I am so happy with how this turned out as a feel better soon card.

Splendid Autumn DSP

I needed a background pattern and found that the leaf stem in the Sunshine Vibes stamp set worked well with my DSP.  I used Mossy Meadow ink for a tone on tone effect.

For the matte layers around the DSP, I pulled colors from the flowers.  All the product details are listed at the end of this post.

Beautiful Motifs - Blackberry Bliss

Beautiful Motifs bundle + Round We Go sentiment

This weeks Crafty Collaborations Monochromatic Insta Hop color is Blackberry Bliss.  This gorgeous color,  paired with gold is just so rich!  I need a special birthday card for an upcoming milestone birthday.... and now this card will perfectly fill the need.

This weeks Monochromatic color challenge

Beautiful Motifs bundle + Round We Go sentiment

This was my first time using the leaf cut out in a background application.  I used a blending brush and ink on Basic White to create a lighter tone than actual cardstock.  Then I used the die to create the lifted areas. I like how I was able to insert flower stems so that it looks like it is flowing around the leaves.  I used adhesive sheet on the back of the gold foil cardstock so that I could apply it directly over the flower base layer.  All of the products used are listed at the end of this post.

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base - Basic White: 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  This is a side fold card.
  • Front matte layer - Blackberry Bliss: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  • Card front layer - Basic White: 3" x 4-1/2" - This layer will have the die cut leaves.
  • Flowers - Basic White: 4" x 4", cut 2 pcs
  • Flower overlays - Gold Foil: 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".  Cut 2 sets.  Add adhesive sheet to the back of the cardstock prior to die cutting.  Just die cut the flower heads and hand trim off stems.
  • Sentiment label - Basic White: 4" x 5/8"
  • Inner matte layer - Blackberry Bliss: 3-7/8" x 5-1/8"
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 3-3/4" x 5"
  • Gold Open Weave Ribbon: 5"
Assembly Instructions:
  • Using bone folder, burnish score line of card base well.
  • Wrap ribbon around lower end of front matte layer, and adhere on back using tape.
  • Using Blackberry Bliss ink and a blending brush, add ink to card front layer until desired depth of tone is desired.  Using Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blend pen (brush tip) to flick ink onto card front.  Use detail die to cut leaf stem.  Lightly bend leaves so that they pop out.
  • Detail die cut 2 flower stems.  Using Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blends, color stems and leaves.  I used the light pen for the stems and the dark pen for the leaves.
  • Peel adhesive sheet backer off of Gold Foil flower heads and adhere over base flower heads.  Shorten stems and adhere behind popped out leaves using mini glue dots.  I also used dimensional cut down to size behind the 2 large flower heads.
  • Adhere card front to front matte layer.  Adhere to front of card base using dimensionals.
  • Using Blackberry Bliss ink and blending brush, apply ink to sentiment strip.  Using Versamark ink, stamp sentiment.  Coat stamped sentiment with Gold heat embossing powder.  Heat set.  Position at diagonal on card front to determine angles to trim.  Adhere using dimensionals.
  • Scatter sequins on card front as desired.
  • Using Blackberry Bliss ink and blending brush, apply ink to 2 corners of inner message liner.  Using Blackberry Bliss ink, stamp sentiment and inner image on message liner.  Adhere to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.
