December Technique challenge - Embossing Folders

I am so happy to be able to participate in this months Technique Tuesday Blog Hop!  This month's challenge is Embossing Folders...... and I am a serious lover of texture, so I LOVE embossing folders!!  Look below my instructions for the list of live links for the participants in this Blog Hop.  You will surely be inspired, so be sure to check them all out!

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base - Basic White Thick: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  This is a side fold card.
  • Front matte layer - Basic Black:  5 1/8" x 3 7/8" 
  • Front left panel - Cherry Cobbler: 5" x 1" - Embossed with Forever Plaid Embossing Folder
  • Front right panel - Basic White: 5" x 2 3/4"- Embossed with Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder
  • Tree - Basic White: 4" x 2 3/4"
  • Star - Basic White: scrap
  • Sentiment- Basic White: scrap - die cut using Peaceful Season label die
  • Inner matte layer - Basic Black: 5 1/8" x 3 7/8"
  • Inner message liner - Basic White: 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Inner decorative strip - Cherry Cobbler: 5" x 3/8"
Assembly Instructions
  • Using Bone Folder, burnish scoreline well.
  • Using Brayer, apply Tuxedo Black ink to front side of embossing folder.  Emboss both Cherry Cobbler pcs. 
  • Adhere both Basic White embossed layer and Cherry Cobbler embossed layer to front matte layer.  Adhere to front of card base.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp tree using largest tree stamp.  Die cut.  Apply to Basic White embossed layer using dimensionals.
  • Using Wild Wheat ink stamp star.  I stamped off once to create a lighter colored star.  Die cut.  I used Wink of Stella to create a sparkly star.  Adhere at top of tree using dimensionals. 
  • Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp sentiment on die cut lable.  Adhere to front of tree using dimensionals.
  • Using Tuxedo Black ink, stamp sentiment on inner message liner.  Adhere 3/8" embossed Cherry Cobbler decorative strip on left side of message liner.  Adhere to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.

Today I am contributing to the Crafty Collaborations Share it Sunday Blog Hop.  I had some fun using the Decorative Trees bundle and below you will find the instructions to make this card for yourself!  Below the instructions you will also find a list of blogs to check out.... to see what everyone else is working on this weekend.

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base: 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  This is a side fold card.
  • Front matte layer: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Card front layer: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Tree - Base layer: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" - Die cut tree silhouette
  • Tree - over layer: 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" - Die cut detail overlay.  Apply adhesive sheet to back of cardstock prior to die cutting.
  • Sentiment: Scrap
  • Inner matte layer: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Inner message liner: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Ribbon: 10"
Assembly Instructions:
  • Using bone folder, burnish score line.
  • Using Balmy Blue ink, stamp card front layer using snow flake stamp from Frozen Edges, to create an all over print.  Adhere to front matte layer.  Adhere to front of card base.
  • Peel backer off of tree over layer and adhere to tree silhouette.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.
  • Using Balmy Blue ink, stamp sentiment on scrap.  Fussy cut.  Adhere to card front, overlapping tree, using dimensionals.  You will need to stack dimensionals on the left side so that the sentiment lays flat.  
  • Adhere bow using mini glue dot.  
  • Scatter gems across card front.
  • Using Balmy Blue ink, stamp sentiment and snow flakes on inner message liner.  Adhere to inner matte layer.  Adhere to inner card base.

September Sketch Challenge

This month I am participating in the Ink & Inspiration sketch challenge for September.  I knew right away that the Peaceful Evergreens bundle, along with the coordinating paper and embossing folder would be perfect for this card.

Cutting Instructions:
  • Card base: 4 1/4" x 11".  Scored at 5 1/2".  This is a top fold card.
  • Right card front panel: 2 3/4" x 5 1/2". This panel will be embossed with the Painted Trees embossing folder.
  • Left DSP card front panel: 1 1/2" x 5 1/2"
  • Focal point matte layers: 2 pcs 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"
  • Focal point darker DSP layer: 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"
  • Focal point lighter DSP layer: 2 1/8" x 2 1/8"
  • Sentiment label: Scrap to die cut
  • Inner message liner: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
Assembly Instructions: 
  • Using bone folder, burnish score line.
  • Emboss the right card front panel using the Painted Trees embossing folder.  Using a sponge dauber, apply a layer of Old Olive ink to the raised portions of the tree.  Using sponge dauber, now apply Mossy Meadow to just the highest points of the embossed image.  Adhere this panel to the right side of the front card base.
  • Adhere left DSP card front panel.
  • Adhere darker DSP focal point layer to focal point matte layer.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp tree image on light DSP focal point layer.  Adhere to focal point matte layer.  Adhere to card front using dimensionals.  Note that the two square layers are off set.
  • Using Versamark ink, stamp sentiment on scrap of Mossy Meadow cardstock.  Apply Gold Heat embossing powder.  Heat set.  Die cut using label die from Peaceful Season dies.  Adhere to focal point.  I stacked the dimensionals on the outer edges for stability.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp sentiment and image on inner message liner.  Adhere to inner card base.
